consolekit software package provides framework for defining and tracking users, sessions and seats, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install consolekit
consolekit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the consolekit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep consolekit *
You will get with consolekit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
